I have a question for the rest of DKos. Has there been an influx of Democratic energy and organizing in areas that went for Trump?
I ask because I’m seeing a lot of energy in the Democratic strongholds, post-election. In Multnomah County the Democratic Party has had a huge influx of precinct committee persons. In Chicago, my friends tell me that the ward organizations have had a similarly massive influx of volunteers. My relatives in Austin, Texas, tell me that there’s been a lot of activity and organizing there, too.
Well, that’s great, and they might be able to GOTV in 2018 and 2020 and help reverse the damage Trump does. But I’m wondering whether — what I’m HOPING THAT — there’s been a similar surge in Democratic energy and organization in areas that went to Trump.
So, here’s my question. Do you live in an area that went for Trump? Have you been involved in organizing for Democratic or progressive organizations since the election? And has there been a surge in participation where you are?
Thanks!
